SIMPLE TO APPLY
The Ashford Formula is simple to use and does not take a lot of time or sophisticated procedures. If applied to existing concrete, the floor must be prepped so that it is clean and bare. Curing agents, dirt, paints, varnishes, bond breakers, oil spills, and other impurities are scraped and/or totally removed.
To operate optimally, the Ashford Formula must be able to permeate the surface and react with the concrete. To permanently densify the concrete surface, just one application of the Ashford Formula is required.
Product Benefits
The Ashford Formula densifies using one-of-a-kind and unrivalled catalytic chemistry. The Ashford Formula was created about 70 years ago as an alternative to coatings. When this product first hit the market, many critics couldn’t believe that a single substance could permanently render floor surfaces resistant to abrasion, simple to clean, and dust-free.
They have been proven false by nearly seven decades of performance. These long-term outcomes are accomplished by the use of a one-of-a-kind and unrivalled catalytic chemistry. The idea is simple: a concrete floor surface is internally densified by crystalline development. A similar process hardens the concrete and binds the particles together. There is nothing to wear out, scuff, or damage because the chemistry is inorganic.
Concrete flooring must be long-lasting. The Ashford Formula renders concrete resistant to abrasion. In fact, abrasion testing suggests that an Ashford Formula-treated floor will be 32% tougher within 30 minutes of treatment. Over time, the treated concrete will continue to harden. The Ashford Formula can also be used to augment surface and aggregate hardeners.
The Ashford Formula, when applied as a curing agent, reduces the outward migration of water from concrete. Its chemical reaction creates a densified barrier, which prevents shrinkage, cracking, and hairline checks. And we have the testing to back it up.
Concrete flooring must be dust-free. Concrete produces dust naturally as a result of efflorescence, which settles on completed objects, racks, and equipment. The Ashford Formula combines with the salts in concrete to become an integral part of the concrete, dust-proofing the surface completely. This significantly saves maintenance expenses while also protecting sensitive equipment and produced goods from dust particles.
The Ashford Formula lowers building expenses. It simply requires one permanent application. This avoids the need to apply a curing membrane, which must be removed later from the floor. Because it stabilises the surface, the Ashford Formula considerably prevents crazing, or “map cracking,” when employed at the time of installation. This feature of the Ashford Formula makes it particularly suitable for outdoor applications, as it renders the concrete resistant to freeze-thaw damage. The Ashford Formula removes the need for costly maintenance-intensive floor coverings such as urethanes, waxes, acrylics, and others.
Because the Ashford Formula permanently densifies concrete, foreign matter including oil, alkali, free lime, and road scum may be readily removed with routine cleaning. A regular maintenance programme for any floor is strongly suggested to eliminate surface pollutants, and any acids or other corrosive compounds should be removed from the floor promptly.
Steel troweled concrete floors that have been treated with the Ashford Formula have a lasting and appealing marble-like gloss. The longer these floors are cleaned and used, the nicer they will appear. Ashford Formula-treated floors also have fewer tyre marks from forklifts and other machinery. Tire markings are readily eliminated if they appear.
NEARLY 70 YEARS AND STILL COUNTING
The Ashford Formula was created using ecologically friendly materials. It not only generates excellent outcomes, but it does so at no cost to the environment. For almost 70 years, the Ashford Formula has offered excellent performance at no ecological cost to the environment, despite growing worried about climate change.
There are no volatile organic compounds in the Ashford Formula (VOCs). It emits no hazardous vapours, fumes, or gases. There is no need for protective clothing or breathing apparatus for this use. The Ashford Formula includes no harmful compounds, heavy metals, poisonous ingredients, carcinogens, mutagens, or teratogens.
The Ashford Formula has been frequently utilised for points on numerous projects since the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) launched the LEED Program. For decades, the Ashford Formula has been regarded as a product that is both safe to use and environmentally beneficial. See below for more information on how the Ashford Formula may help you get LEED points.
Our trademark blue barrels have become a well-known emblem in the concrete densification business. Our product is packed in previously used barrels, which reduces the environmental effect of processing new containers.
Contributes To Leed Points
The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) does not verify that individual items meet the requirements outlined in the LEED rating system for New Construction and Major Renovations. The rules, on the other hand, indicate unequivocally that items with particular features qualify for the points used in LEED project certification.
The Ashford FormulaTM can award points based on the proportion of total flooring that is treated. The Ashford FormulaTM is designed to endure the life of the building and does not need to be removed or replaced if it is sold or modified. The implementation of the Ashford FormulaTM on an existing floor in a rehabilitation project allows for the reuse of existing materials.
Credit 3.1 and 3.2 for Materials and Resources:
The Ashford FormulaTM can contribute points by reusing the existing concrete floor at a cost of at least 5 – 10% of the overall project materials value.
Materials and Resources Credits 5.1 and 5.2:
If the project is within 500 miles of where the Ashford FormulaTM is created – Springville, Utah – the Ashford FormulaTM can contribute points.
Credit For Indoor Enviromental Quality
Credit 3.1 for Indoor Environmental Quality: Construction Plan for Improving Indoor Air Quality: Throughout Construction
Throughout ConstructionIntention: To assist maintain the comfort and well-being of construction workers and building occupants, reduce indoor air quality concerns caused by the construction/renovation process. Because it is a flooring product and an alternative to carpet, the Ashford Formula can contribute points. This standard requires construction to be sequenced such that “absorptive materials” such as insulation, carpets, ceiling tile, and gypsum wallboard do not get polluted and thereby compromise worker safety. Concrete floors coated with the Ashford Formula are not absorbent like carpet and hence are not prone to contamination.
Credit 3.2: Construction Indoor Environmental Quality Management
Prior to OccupancyIntention: To assist maintain the comfort and well-being of construction workers and building occupants, reduce indoor air quality issues caused by the construction/renovation process. The Ashford Formula can get points since it is entirely based on inorganic chemistry and hence has no bearing on the presence of formaldehyde, particulates, VOCs, or 4-Phenylcyclohexene. Furthermore, unlike other floor coatings and floor coverings, the Ashford Formula emits no fumes, vapours, or off-gassing.
Intent: Reduce the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous, irritating and/or harmful to the comfort and well-being of installers and occupants.
The Ashford Formula can contribute points because it dispenses with all floor coverings and allows exposed concrete floors to be used as the finished working surface. This standard specifically references sealants and adhesives, such as those used on carpet, carpet pads, rubber floors, VCT and ceramic tile, which the Ashford Formula does not use.Thermal Comfort Intent: Provide a pleasant thermal environment that promotes building occupant productivity and well-being.
The Ashford FormulaTM can earn points by keeping the natural thermal qualities of concrete in order to lower the building’s cooling and heating loads, hence boosting the thermal comfort of the inhabitants. By increasing the thermal mass of the building envelope, the Ashford FormulaTM treated concrete improves the advantages of in-floor radiant or solar heating and cooling systems.
Innovation & Design Process Credit
The Ashford Formula™ will perform well under conditions of temperature change, and wet conditions, incase of natural disaster or other emergency.
